Victorian Silver Bell 'Tommy' The Cambridgeshire Hounds
 
Lovely long narrow silver bell with scalloped rim, and a decorative engraving which says - 
Tommy The Cambridgeshire Hounds
December 30th 1912
 
then lower down hallmarks for 
and the engraving 'Rowland Ward Ltd, 167 Piccadilly'
 
James Rowland Ward (1848–1912), a British taxidermist, founded the firm Rowland Ward Limited of Piccadilly, London, in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. The company specialised in and was renowned for its taxidermy work on birds and big-game trophies, but it did other types of work as well.
 
Tommy must have been one of the hounds from the Cambridgeshire fox hunting pack.
This would have originally been a silver mount for a piece of taxidermy rather like when you see a lucky rabbit's foot, but has now been made into a bell.
