Very pretty high carat gold charm ring, the shank designed as a rope with a lovers knot at the front.

The knot was often used in 18th century symbolism with two birds pulling the rope in opposite directions -  'Le Plus Loin Je Plus Serre' - 'The farther I fly, the Tighter I Tie.'  meaning the further away we are from one another the tighter our love (the knot) becomes.

Here in this later iteration, a small puffy heart dangles from the knot, the centre decorated with a split pearl.
