Wonderful 18 carat gold etruscan revival acrostic locket 'REGARD'
 
Made in the “archaeological style,” - inspired by the jewelry found in the excavated ruins of ancient Etruscan cities.
Ancient Etruscan jewelers excelled at creating intricate patterns in gold using corded wire, filigree and granulation.
During the mid-1800’s, when these treasures were unearthed, European jewelers were inspired to create replica jewels using the ancient techniques.
This unusual piece is decorated with corded gold wire, and up the centre the stones -

The locket hinges open from the top; you open it by opening it at the base with the two gold balls and rotating out the glass locket that lives inside.
One can add a photo or memento either side but you will need a jeweller to help you do this.
The locket used to contain hair but at present is lined with purple silk.
