Adorable 15 Carat Victorian Fob, modelled as a horse stepping through a horseshoe arch, the horseshoe set with the typical seven lucky nails.
The top ring is presented with a matching 15 carat yellow gold bolt, stamped with ‘15’.
The oval vase is engraved with a rope twist pattern.
A popular legend attributes the horseshoe's power to Saint Dunstan, a blacksmith who nailed a hot shoe to the Devil's hoof and only removed it on the condition that the Devil would never enter a home with a horseshoe hanging on the door.
The crescent shape was associated with moon goddesses, symbolizing fertility and good fortune to the ancient Greeks. It was also traditionally held in place by seven nails, a number considered lucky in many ancient cultures.
