Really cool Victorian 15 carat gold compass locket, modelled somewhat like an antique divers helmet or some kind of depth charge.
 
The orb at the bottom of the contraption is weighted so that the compass always faces upwards - so that when the pendant is hanging from a chain the compass is hidden inside the locket, and you can see it by opening the locket, but also if you turn the locket upsidedown the compass will swivel to accommodate.
