What a charming charm!

A naughty monkey climbs on a parrot (I don’t know how else to describe the composition lol.

They are pinned in the centre of a long gold oval around which they rotate.

Calling it spinning is pushing it a bit lol.

They are finely modelled in 15 carat gold.

A short, well-worn American anecdote from the 1880s describes the result of owning both a parrot and a monkey. One day, the owner comes home to find the monkey "decked with red and green feathers" but cannot find the parrot for a long while, implying the monkey plucked them all out in mischief.

A literary story written in 1899 by Alphonse Allais, a French humorist, describes a debate between a monkey and a parrot living in the same palace.

The Monkey's Argument: The monkey boasts it is more human-like because it can grimace, gesticulate, and has hands, and at a distance "could be mistaken for a man".

The Parrot's Argument: The parrot counters that it possesses man's greatest gift: speech. It can "declaim fine verses, and sing ineffable songs".
