Superb spinner fob from the early 19th Century.
 
Two snakes hold the spinner at it's axis either side, their tails coiling around their bodies to form the bail at the top.
The snakes are finely engraved with crosshatched bodies and angular almost bird like faces.
The spinner is oval, set on one side with a carnelian, the other with a bloodstone.
The carnelian side is engraved with a running sighthound, above him the motto 'Toujours Fidelis' - Always faithful.
The dog of course always representing love and loyalty.
The stones are held in a flat gold crosshatched frame (which I have had repaired)
 
I just love these type of fobs and they are very wearable for men too.
