Unusual Victorian silver whistle, modelled as a classic whistle with engraved foliate pattern, and standing ontop of the whistle a crouching hound, tracking prey.
Inside is a wooden pea. Air passes over the pea causing it to oscillate, or vibrate, in the surrounding air column inside the cavity of the whistle resulting in a sharp clear sound.
Looks great worn as a pendant on a silver chain, or even on a velvet ribbon or leather thong.
