Adorable Regency shell Cameo Earrings circa 1810 -20 with tops and tear drops
The tops are engraved with little butterflies, the drops have cherubs riding chariots, one holding a wreath and one holding a torch; one with butterflies on a leash, the other with birds on a leash.
The butterfly represents that moment of innocence before sexual awakening as told in the story of Cupid and Psyche
The earrings are about 35mm long and 13mm at their widest
