Wonderful French Dog Collar - literally! 
Dating from around 1880 this really unusual collar is made from leather with a white metal central name plaque and lead ring, and a total of eight further plaques, each mounted with a three dimensional dog head, four different heads either side of the name plate, each one fastened together with four 'staple' type links. 
I can't decide what the breeds are, take a look and decide for yourselves!
 
The plaque is engraved with the monogram 'P P' in very french style calligraphy.
 
The closure has six size settings and is secured with a silver heart padlock.
 
A rare thing!!
