A chance to purchase a beautiful and fine quality mid 19th century high carat gold locket, enamelled with a masked lady, roses and wreaths in her hair, her diamond eyes glinting through her sheer purple mask .
She also wears another tiny diamond at her throat, attached by turquoise festoons.
 
Around the oval border of the enamel painting is a chased gold pattern inlaid with white enamel.
 
The original gold bail is almond shaped and engraved to match the border.
 
The reverse of the locket is set with an oval glass back which can be carefully lifted out so that one can add a memento or lock of hair. At present it is lined with royal blue silk.
