This is a fabulous ring! Most man in the moon jewelry is small and delicate. Not this one!
This one is very chunky. The centre is set with a moonstone, carved with a smiling face, the eyes lowered. the back is open so that the light pours through the moonstone and makes the face glow.
Around the face are fourteen silver petals or rays, each set with a lovely .15 carat high topped old cut diamond - so totalling 2.1 carats of diamonds!
The shank is all original and made from 18 carat gold. It has french marks. an eagles head and a makers mark.
I'm not quite sure how to date it but from the look of the diamonds I would say it is from around 1880 - 90.
(many moon face rings are 1900 - 1920)
weighs - 10.24g
the face measures 20mm diameter
the back of the shank measures - 3.3mm
size - 7.5 and can be sized but carefully (not to disrupt hallmarks)
Condition - excellent
