I'm a sucker for this kind of ring!
The face an oval plaque, painted with a blue enamel ground and laid over this a tiny carved plinth, decorated with gold dots top and bottom, the stand bearing the sentiment 'Amitie' in black letters.
Ontop of the plinth a tiny urn made from three tiny natural pearls and minute gold wirework stands in honour of James Buchanan, all displayed under it's own mini glass firmament.
The shank is a simple cigar band type, typical of the period.
The reverse of the ring is inscribed - 'James Buchanan obt 14th May 1793.
