Truly wonderful Georgian collar made from glass ovals inspired by real agate stones.
Reminiscent of the agateware of the 1770's which was made primarily in Staffordshire from clay and used mostly to make pieces such as jugs and teaware, swirling different colours together to create patterns that mimic the appearance of natural stone.
This collar is made from two colours of glass swirled together, a burnt orange and a black.
The collar comprises thirteen ovals, with bevelled edges, set in yellow metal pinched collet settings, graduating from the centre front to the back where it fastens with a textured, chunky barrel clasp.
Three of the stones are likely later replacements as they are set with actual dendritic agate stones that have colours that match the glass.
The largest oval measures 27mm x 31mm
The smallest oval measures - 16.5 x 20.5mm
weighs - 62.6g
measures - 15.5" long
