Very attractive Victorian Padlock.
Elongated, with a scrolling, organic outline, this padlock has at it's centre a big jammy red stone which pretends to be a garnet, but is foiled paste, and is quite mesmerising.
The gold coloured metal is chased all over, front and back, with a foliate pattern.
The back also has an oval glass locket window, once lined with hair, now with purple silk.
However, what I love the most is that the side of the locket all the way around has been engraved with the inscription, 'Wm D F Stocks Died April 6th 1857 aet 33'
weighs - 13.2g
measures - 45mm x 25mm
England circa 1857
condition - good antique condition - few small scuff to the back glass
Locket opens and closes well and is secure
