Very pretty mid 19th century cheroot holder case modelled as an acorn, with screw top lid, decorated with an ice blue guilloche enamel with festoons of flowers and ribbons in pinks and greens on gilded metal.
The last three images of the red acorn show a similar piece sold by Maryann Antiques. Inside is a telescopic cheroot holder.
A lady would store it in the acorn and use the holder when smoking.
My acorn holder does not have the cheroot holder, it is absent.
But it’s perfect for adding a memento like a child’s tooth or lock of hair etc.
