Gorgeous and rare Early Victorian Diamond cross in original fitted box.
The central stone is a 1 carat old cut diamond with an openback setting, all the other diamonds are rose cut diamonds, the stones set in cut down silver settings and fitted tightly together with a closed back setting. Even the bail is set with 3 rose cut diamonds.
I have done a rough calculation and I estimate there to be 3 carats of rose cut diamonds making a grand total of 4 carats.
The back is a thick slab of 18 carat yellow gold.
It's a very beautiful piece and it would look gorgeous worn long, just above the waist, or even on a velvet ribbon.
The diamonds are not icy white, they have a yellowish tint which gives this piece a really romantic early feel.
