Fabulous large, modern looking Victorian locket.

Of oval form, but clean and flat, the front engraved with a large garter buckle, and the back with a monogram that looks to be RRn or RRh, the edge scored with two narrow lines front and back.

The garter motif was particularly popular during the 19th Century and stood for strength, loyalty and an eternal bond.

The locket hinges open to reveal an inner glazed locket panel on one side, behind which is a bold orange silk velvet.

The bail is big and tapered and is stamped with a makers mark which I can't read and '11'

measures - 52mm (67mm incl bail)  x 40mm x 7.2mm deep

weighs - 22.09g

English circa 1870

Condition - good antique condition, minor scratches. I can really polish it up if you wish
