19th Century Black Dot Paste Earrings

These beautiful foiled faceted pastes date from the second half of the 19th Century.

They have cut down settings, silver button backs and 9 carat gold shepherd's hook ear wires.

 

Black dot paste refers to a historic technique where a small, faceted glass stone is backed with a tiny black dot to imitate the appearance of a diamond

 

Beautiful for day to night wear.
