Stunning Victorian Amethyst Lion Paw Bracelet.
 
A beautiful and very cool 15 carat gold bracelet designed as a pair of lions paws holding and oval faceted amethyst.
The paws are finely modelled, with detailed fur and claws that grip the amethyst.
 
The paws hinge onto the bracelet strap wihich comprises alternating gold rectangles and hexagons, all chased with a gold foliate acanthus pattern.
Each shape hinges to the next so that it fits prefectly around the wrist.
Clasp closure with gold safety chain.
 
The design of the acanthus motif in Victorian chasing is often stylized and simplified, with more emphasis on the leaf's scroll-like shapes and curves. The acanthus is often associated with long life, immortality, or rebirth.
