A very collectible  antique English figural postage stamp box, hand carved in the form of the head of a Hound Dog.
 
The Hound has a charming face and still has his original amber glass eyes, the top side fully modelled, with ear and collar, the base without ear so that he can sit flat on a desk.
The box opens to reveal a single carved out compartment which would have been used for stamps; the original gilded metal hinge is in perfect working order.
