Utterly romantic early 19th Century two colour 18 carat gold heart.
 
The textured centre of the heart is adorned with a bouquet of four flowers, modelled in high relief, the heads of the flowers each claw set with a stone -
Diamond
Emerald
Amethyst
Ruby =
DEAR
The border of the heart is set with eight pink topaz stones, claw set, inbetween each one chased gold leaves and buds.
 
To the back of the pendant is a circular glass locket, which would have held a tiny lock of the Dearest's hair, but now holds some plum coloured velvet.
 
By the marks on the back I can see that this was once a brooch, but the pin has been removed and a twisted 18 carat gold ring added in keeping with the period.
 
This would look pretty hung on a  fine georgian chain.
