Beautiful antique 18 carat gold earrings, modelled as acorns, all from finely twisted and coiled gold wire,

The gold colour is such a rich yellow colour that they look as if they are 24 carat!

The wires on the back of each are hallmarked 18C with a crown and SD so it is highly likely that these unusual earrings are Swedish. Swedish gold, especially antique pieces commonly features a crown and in combination with 18C and SD strongly suggests Scandinavian origin.

Mighty oaks grow from a small acorn and the value of its meaning in 19th century jewellery is related to personal strength through virtue.
