When I first started these were all the rage! 
The most famous maker being Smith and Pepper, but they were made by quite a few different makers and were so popular that they were made from the 60's to the 90's (and maybe still?)
 
They have a coiled 'gas pipe' style body that has a spring steel core that helps keep it's shape, with an engraved face, set with garnet eyes
 
This one is made by 'BJ' and Hallmarked for Birmingham, 9 Carat (375)  1986
 
It weights 13g
