Quirky Victorian Butterfly pendant (I bought like this) that is actually a Victorian skirt lifter.
It has been fitted out with a 15 carat heart locket and chain, but back in the day it would have been used upside down to attach onto a ladies skirt hem so that she couls lift her skirt up when needed.
The two finely modelled butterflies act as the clip and and tightened together by sliding the ring down the shank.
